If you’ve never had the pleasure of wearing a silk blouse, or lining a jacket in silk, I encourage you to take advantage of this piece of high-quality silk charmeuse. It’s a lovely weight of silk charmeuse — 19 momme (some silk charmeuse fabric is a bit thinner, 16 momme being common) — and perfect for a blouse or jacket lining. If you want to make a dress, you might consider underlining it with silk georgette. The color is a sophisticated dusty purple. Charmeuse is shiny on the face and matte on the back, but use whichever you prefer as the public side. Or use both to get a perfectly color-matched textural variation.

Did you know that you can launder most silks? Charmeuse launders well on a gentle cycle with cool water. Fluff in a tepid dryer for a few minutes, and then line dry. With charmeuse, you’ll lose some of the shine as well as the pristine surface — it will look like washed silk!
