I've only had a few firm sign-ups for the June fitting class. Since it sounds like a 4-day class is a problem for some, I'll offer it as a 3-day class (June 25-27 with a class fee of $395.00). Please let me know ASAP if this makes the class workable for you or if you would like me to offer the class at another time. I need to know by Friday, June 10th if you would like to join the class. I know many of you have asked me to teach a fitting class, and I would like to be able to accommodate your interests. Following is some information about the fitting class.
For many sewers, the success of a garment hinges on the way it fits. And unfortunately, as our ready-to-wear clothing has become more generic in the way it fits, pattern companies have followed suit. Although it takes years of experience to become a master at fitting, learning the basic concepts and first rules of fitting is possible for anyone who's willing to spend the time.
This class will be held in a comfortable conference room in the Hampton Inn -- Hunt Valley, MD. Please visit my website for more information about the class.
I'll be going to NYC to fabric shop on Thursday, June 23 with two other people. If anyone else would like to join us, please just let me know. More information about my NYC trips is available on my website. The base fee for the day, which includes the bus, my resource list, and lots of time to work with me is $110.00.
As usual, we'll concentrate on finding a variety of wonderful fabrics and enjoy all that New York’s garment district has to offer. I'll provide you with my resource list, be available to help you with any fabric questions, and assist you in putting together interesting fabric groupings.
Please visit my website for more detailed information about my day trips to NYC. If you'd like me to arrange an NYC trip for another time, let me know your preferred dates.
Another one of my articles in the Sewing Basics series will be on Cranston's website soon. The topic of this article is Fabric Grainline. Visit the "Apparel" section of www.cranstonvillage.com to read this article when it is posted and to read my other Cranston articles.
