Getting Comfortable With Knits, an introductory class, will be offered July 16, 17, 18 (Friday-Sunday). Learn how to work with knits and develop a basic interlock T-shirt pattern and a stretch bodysuit or camisole pattern perfected for yourself. Topics covered will include: learning to recognize different knit fabrics and knit structures; how to accurately assess the stretch and recovery factors of knits; how to select patterns when working with knit fabrics; how to gauge what size pattern to use; guidelines on choosing a knit fabric for a specific project; tips on sewing with knits; and neckline finishing techniques. There are three spaces open for the bus trip to NYC's garment district on Monday, July 19. The fee is $115.00, which includes bus fare, Sarah's resource list, and lots of guidance and help from Sarah in selecting fabrics, notions, and trims. Want to start the Fall inspired to work on your sewing projects? Sarah's introductory design class will get your creative juices flowing, as well as hone your technical skills. This six-day, intensive class will give you an opportunity to explore and understand the many facets of design and soft tailoring for women. We'll study the elements of design and their interrelationship, including visualization and the value of sketching, flat pattern manipulation, draping, fabrication, engineering, fitting, and construction techniques as they pertain to soft tailoring.
